All About Debt
Debt is an amount that one owes to another person or company from whom he/she has borrowed funds. It can be represented by a bond or loan notes or any other form that states the repayment terms or interest requirements. Though there are different forms of representing debt but all entail the same intention of paying back the sum within a specific period at a specific rate quoted in the repayment terms.
There are various types of debt:
• Secured and unsecured: In a case of a secured loan, a creditor has recourse to debtor’s assets where as in case of an unsecured liability creditors have no recourse to the company’s assets.
• Private and Public: Private debt includes certain requirements like a bank loan type. On the other hand, public debt basically includes financial tools that can be freely traded, with minimum restrictions, if any.
• Syndicated and bilateral: A syndicated debt is approved when someone wishes to borrow more money than any lender alone is prepared to lend. In this situation, a collective group of banks each consents to put in some portion of the desired sum.
Now, as we know debt-free life is a dream for many so let me tell you solutions to this overwhelming abyss that a lot of people go through. The most prevalent methods are:
• Debt Consolidation Loans: These loans are taken to repay credit cards liabilities. The major advantage is that you would have to pay only one payment monthly in contrast to multiple payments every month. Also the loan would feature a low interest rate. But, it places a high amount of risk on home.
• Credit Counselling: The benefit of this program is that it reduces interest payments and consolidates all the credit payments. So, rather than making several payments all through the month to the creditors, you will just have to make one payment to credit counselling agency. These agencies will make payment on your behalf to your creditors. This type of plans is generally liked by creditors as a result the creditors lower down their interest rate.
